Yes, this happened...why can't I paint anything without spilling the damn paint? Good news?  I salvaged most of it!!

Back soon with kitchen pics!!

I'm here, I'm here...

Hi there!  I have been SUPER busy lately...I think I told you how overcommitted I am this year...but I've also been busy around the house.

Here are a few sneak peeks!!

It's almost Halloween, so I'm in the middle of planning our 9th Annual Costume Party, so what better time to start painting my kitchen cabinets...finally!

I started exactly 3 weeks before the party...I'm not thinking I will get them done, but I will be working my butt off trying.  9 days and counting.

Oh and in the midst of painting, I decided not to paint all of the cabinets black.  I am going with a two toned look, with white on top and black on the bottom.

I also did a little side project.  My little rhino friend received a nice coat of gold paint.
He is B-E-A-Utiful now!

I also may have painted our front doors...this is the original color, which isn't bad, but with the cornflower shutters they looked a bit dated.  So we changed the shutters and I painted the front doors a bright ass Green!  Not sure I love it, but it's growing on me!
I will be back with pictures soon!

I did a little Craigslisting and found this little beauty.  I did have to go to a scary neighborhood, but thought it was a steal at $20.00.  The middle shelves swivle it is a total 70s wonder!

I may also have gotten a wild hair to try out different housepaint colors...but have since painted over them with white.  I can't take on a project of this magnitude at this point...and yes my 7 year old is on the front porch in her panties!

I also found this little rattan sofa table that got a quick coat of matte black spray paint.  I still haven't nailed down it's new home...but I'm getting closer.  Plus it also has the 70s smoky glass of my little brass friend up above.

I also copied some chalk board art from Pinterest and am quite pleased with myself...

So you know what I've been up to...My husband calls my affliction "project drift".  You know when you're in the midst of one project and decide to start another one...
Oh yeah, I did this again last night and starting sewing some slip covers for some fugly chairs I have.
So my goal is to get my kitchen cabinets and my slip covers you think I can do it?
Oh and I also need to finish our costumes!  Sheesh, someone shoot me!
Do you have project drift?  What is the cure?

Five on Friday

Wide-Calf Boots
Nine West Wide-Calf Shiza Boots
I am always looking for good looking wide-calf winter boots that are leather, not fakey pleather.  I've been reading reviews online about this cute pair and they are apparently "the perfect wide-calf boots".  I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I'm digging these boots!

Camel Pea Coat
Banana Republic Camel Colored Pea Coat
I just recently joined this group on Facebook where you can sell your shit...without having a garage sale.  The group is even called "East Wichita Garage Sale" and I have been finding some great stuff...along with unloading some crapola that I no longer need.
This cute pea coat was $20.00!!!

Fall Styles
Eversoft dot pullover
The Crew Neck Sweater Over Button-Down
Can you tell I'm ready for fall?  I'm loving the preppy fall looks!!

Breaking Bad

Walt considers extreme measures to remove the threat of Jesse.
Since we signed up for Netflix, I have been binge watching TV.
Breaking Bad is such a good show!!
(So much for not getting sucked in.)

Blog: Brittany Herself
I'm not even sure where I found Brittany Herself, but if I had a fraternal twin she would be it.  I could have written every word I've read...maybe not a whittily, but I totally relate to her in so many ways.  She is a mom, a wife and a woman trying to accept herself the way she is.
She recently conducted an experiment where she had sex with her husband every day for a year in an attempt to accept her body and feel comfortable in her skin.
I encourage you to check her out!!  I don't think you will regret it!

I'm a day late with my Friday Faves...but that's the story of my life!

I've been looking for something brass for my house for awhile now.  I keep seeing gold and brass accents and although I never really loved the look...its been growing on me lately!

I'm thinking it's from the 70s...and I don'tlove the smoked glass, but I could always change that.

What do you think of my find? Pretty unique and only $25.00.

Honey, how about you?

Trimming the fat...

Do you have cable tv?
I do and and I'm not happy about it!
We have the bundle.  You know the home phone, tv, internet bundle...the one that gives you all of the glorious discounts.  With all of those lovely discounts, we are paying up to and sometimes over $200.00.  I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous!!
My hubs has been trying to get me to get rid of the home phone for ever, but with little ones, I've always had a hard time giving it up.  The whole, "what if we have a babysitter and the police/ambulance/firetruck needs to find our house"... well, I think I've finally decided we can do without the darn home phone. It's only solicitors that call it anyway.
Not to mention we are slaves to the TV.  I find myself getting sucked in to some ridiculous movie or tv show and I don't get jack squat done in the evenings...soooo....
We've decided to go the Roku/Hulu/Netflix route...
I went ahead and signed up for Netflix, can you say $7.99/month?!

I'm a little late to this party...because OMG, I love it!

I don't know if this will help the slave to the TV thing, but there aren't time constraints, so I can always watch it later!

We also signed up for Hulu Plus.

I haven't watched much yet, but at $7.99/month I think it will work just fine.  You can watch new network shows the day after they really what are you missing out on.

We did have to sign up for Xbox live in order to stream both Netflix and Hulu Plus, but it's pretty slick and only $5.00/month.  I even googled and found that I could buy a year for $48 through Amazon instead of the normal $59.99. Score.

We plan to buy the Roku boxes for the rest of the TVs, but they are reasonable and will give us the ability to watch TV on all the TVs.

I'm really curious to see what else is out there!  I hope more and more people drop cable so that they realize that screwing the customer really isn't cool!

(This wasn't a paid post, I just want to spread the knowledge that there are alternatives out there!)

Have you gotten rid of Cable?

What do you watch instead?

Back to School

Wednesday was Harper's first day of school!
I can't get over how fast the summer flew by, not to mention how fast my baby is growing up!

Second grade already?!
Where did the time go?
My sweet Ollie started Kindergarten on Friday...
Everyone kept asking if I was going to cry...I didn't, but it was surreal leaving her at the school!

It was the first time they've gone to school together...EVER!! Amazing!!

Hug your babies, they're not babies for long!!

(Yes, my 5 year old is almost as tall as my 7 year old, and has bigger feet!
She totally doesn't look like a kindergartner!)
