Creating With the Stars Contest

Hey there.

I haven't posted in a week or so, but we have had holidays, inservice days and snow days all in the same week.  I live in the middle of Kansas and we got 14.5 inches of snow last week, and we're expecting another 10-15 inches tonight.  Yikes!

I did however want to enlist your help...see I recently entered my dining room update in a contest. The gals over at East Coast Creative have a contest running right now where 12 lucky bloggers will be chosen to pair up with some uber talented, highly followed bloggers to create a project.  The winner wins the most amazing prizes, on top of getting to work with super creative, talented bloggers. I don't know what makes me think I could be in the top 12, but here's the thing the 12th place blogger is chosen by being the top viewed entry.

My entry is #80 and all I need you to do is click on this link, and go click on #80 like 1000 times, or even better tell your followers to go check it out and click on my  link too.  I know it's a lot to ask, but there are some really cool projects on there and I would love to have a chance.

Valentine's Day

So this Valentine's Day I was determined to make cute, homemade Valentines for the girls to hand out.  My idea was not original, in fact, it has been all over Pinterest and blog land for the past couple years.  I wanted to do it last year, but just-didn't-get-it-done.

So I take the girls pictures over the last couple of days, and then last night I edited them in PicMonkey (which is SO EASY)!  I then emailed them off to Walgreens to develop them...you know cause I'm in a hurry...

So the hubs goes by on his way home and picks them up for me.
Ollie's turned out OK, but the borders of Harper's were all jankey...but what am I to do when it is the night before Valentine's Day?

Nothing...they will work just fine!

So I get them all put together and show the girls, and Ollie bursts in to tears.  She had some idea in her head that I was going to make a virtual lolly-pop...and she didn't like the real lolly-pop...

I was dumbfounded, but after crying for about 30  minutes she decided she was OK and that she liked the Valentines.

Thank you Lord!!

Don't mind the Starbucks back in the background!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Firmoo Review - Need a New Pair of Glasses?

So, I was recently contacted by Firmoo.com, an online international glasses retailer, along with probably a lot of other "real" bloggerss, haha, to order a pair of glasses for free and give a review.

I ordered the pair of glasses I thought my husband would look cute in and maybe if I were going to fake it,  might look cute on me too.

See the hubs has worn glasses forever, the kind you wear from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to sleep.  His mom is always trying to get him to wear contacts...and I know this will sound funny, but I don't EVER want him to get contacts.  I like his glasses, in fact, he looks weird to me without them.  You see, he wears them every waking moment...so I never see him without glasses except for the rare moments in the morning or at night.

Dare I say, he looks cute in glasses...well he does!

The one thing about his glasses wearing that does drive me nuts though, is that he rarely lets me come with him to pick out new ones.  The one's he picks are fine, but I always wished he would choose some that are a little more hip.  Albeit that he isn't the hippest dude, he does OK.   Right now, Geek Chic is in, so I would love to see him in a geeky plastic frame.  I think he would look hot, right?

So I was perusing through the options on Firmoo.com and found the super cute, geeky glasses below.

I ordered them on Friday and received them by the next Wednesday.  Fast right?!

These glasses retail for $36!!  That is an amazing price!!  We have paid well over $400 for glasses in the past and I don't know that the quality was any better!!

So here is the hubs before with his own glasses, and an after with the Firmoo glasses:

After:

Me likey!!

Just for fun, here is a picture of me too:

I don't wear glasses, never have, but this is a pair that might make me fake it.  Ha!

Are you down with Cozi?

My husband and I are calendar challenged.  We both work, so we use our Outlook Calendars to keep track of doctor's appointments, dance lessons, basketball games etc., but it seems like a lot of work to update the home calendar and then the work calendars and I just don't like it.

Also, every year my new year's resolution is to get better at meal planning.  If I have meals planned out and I shop accordingly, then we're good.  I don't stress out, I know I have stuff and dinner won't take that long to make.  I know this, yet, I'm not a good at doing this consistently.  I'll sit down and come up with 6 or 7 meals, and shop for the ingredients.  It will work out great for a couple of weeks and then I go to the store willy nilly and get stuff for the boring old meals I always make and I will come home from work and not have a plan.  On these nights, we  end up eating fish sticks and mac & cheese.

Not healthy, and not good.

So recently I discovered the Cozi App for my iphone.

O.M.G.

This app is changing my life...for the better!

It's a free app that you can sign up for on your phone, and then also use on your computer.

When you sign up, you enter your email address and a family password, which you share with your family...so your husband and your kids can all add to the calendar.  I think this will be so helpful once the kids are older and are into sports, they can add their own games or practices or work schedules and everyone will be able to see it at a glance.

Once I set up the Cozi account, I added a calendar for myself, my husband and both girls, but I also added one for meal planning.  I enter the menu item and cut and paste the recipe into the appointment so when you are making your grocery list, you have it all right there.

Once I have entered a meal, I can even have it repeat in two months,or two weeks or however often I want...so once I have a full schedule of meals, I'm done.  It will just repeat.  If we get sick of something, I can just go in and add a different recipe.
There is even a recipe box, where you can store your recipes.

One of my favorite features is the Shopping Lists.  I can send my husband to the store and he can just read the list and mark the items off as he goes, and if I remember while he's at the store that I need something else, I can just go add it to the list and it will update on his list too.

You can set up reminders too, so you will get an email and a text, or just an email or a text.

We just started using this app, but I can already tell that it is going to reduce a lot of my daily stress.

Have you ever used Cozi?  Do you have another app that you use?

If you sign up, let me know what you think or if you find any tricks that you can share!

I'm begging you...become a follower! Ha!

I wasn't paid or perked for this post, I just really like this app and wanted to share!
